(PressZoom.com) - Martin C. Carlson, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that Michael W. Clark, age 40, York, Pennsylvania, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Sylvia H. Rambo to a term of imprisonment for distribution of child pornography. Judge Rambo sentenced Clark to a 210 month term of imprisonment and further order that Clark serve a life term of supervised release and pay a $1,500 fine.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Carlson, in February 2007, an undercover agent was contacted by Clark in a picture trading chat room where the undercover agent had posted that he/she was in need of money. During the conversation, Clark discussed his various sexual interests including Clark’s interest in traveling to the undercover agent’s out of state location to engage in sex with both the undercover agent and his/her minor daughters.

Over the course of a few months, Clark emailed the undercover agent several images and video of child pornography. Clark also requested that the undercover agent mail pictures of his/her daughters.

In April 2007, United States Postal Inspectors, assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, conducted a controlled delivery of child pornography to Clark. Once Clark departed the post office with the parcel, he was arrested by agents. A subsequent search of Clark’s residence revealed a computer with over 1,000 images and approximately 70 videos of child pornography. A computer disk was also recovered and found to contain over 2,600 images of child pornography, at least 750 of which were images of infants and toddlers engaged in sexual activity.

This case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney James T. Clancy under the Project Safe Childhood initiative. In February 2006, the Department of Justice created Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
