(PressZoom.com) - A roadside bomb blew up today and killed three U.S. soldiers along with two Iraqi civilians in the North West area of Baghdad. In a separate attack another U.S. soldier was killed by either a mortar or rocket device. These deaths increase the total of dead to 3996 for the United States armed forces according to a statictics company (icasualties.org) which tracks such facts.
Much has been quiet in the last few weeks but these deaths occur just days after the President of the United States gave a heartfelt speech marking the five year anniversary of the beginning of the war in Iraq.
More fighting had taken place yesterday with a U.S. helicopter flying in the area known as Samarra and killing several Iraqis who were linked to a group known as the Sons of Iraq. These killings might have been another case of friendly fire as it was reported that the group was patroling the areas around Samarra as it is a heavily travelled route for those looking to stir trouble as insurgents.
A communication breakdown between U.S. forces and the patrol group which was setting up checkpoints around the region may have lead the these horrible deaths.
