Football stars Griese, Hutchinson host celebrity golf tournament to benefit U-M children’s, women’s hospitals
The second annual “Champions for Children’s Hearts” celebrity gala and golf tournament – presented by Northwest Airlines – will be hosted by Brian Griese and Steve Hutchinson. The event will again benefit the new C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital, and the U-M Congenital Heart Center. The inaugural event in 2007 raised nearly $250,000.

ABOUT THE EVENT: The second annual “Champions for Children’s Hearts” celebrity gala and golf tournament – presented by Northwest Airlines – will be hosted by Brian Griese and Steve Hutchinson. The event will again benefit the new C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital, and the U-M Congenital Heart Center. The inaugural event in 2007 raised nearly $250,000.
More than 30 celebrity golfers, including several members of the 1997 U-M football championship team, and current and former NFL players and personalities are expected to play on Sunday, May 18 at the U-M Golf Course. Plus, more than 400 celebrity athletes, sponsors and supporters from across the country will be in attendance at a special gala dinner on Saturday, May 17 at Crisler Arena, which will kick-off the weekend event and feature a live auction. Media also are invited to attend the gala.
All proceeds from the event support the care provided at the U-M Congenital Heart Center, and construction of the new $523 million children’s hospital and women’s hospital facility, set to open in 2011. With 1.1 million square feet, the facility will provide a new and larger home for the Congenital Heart Center, and other specialty services for newborns, children and pregnant women.
