CELEBRATE ACUPUNCTURE & ORIENTAL MEDICINE DAY Friday, OCTOBER 24TH WITH FREE ACUPUNCTURE, QI GONG CLASSES, & HEALTH TIPS AT PACIFIC COLLEGE OF ORIENTAL MEDICINE IN NEW YORK.
(PressZoom) - New York, NY - Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, New York will be hosting a celebration of North American Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day Wednesday, October 24th, from 5:30-8:00 pm. The festivities in New York’s flatiron district will include complimentary community style Acupuncture for relaxation and stress relief, Qi gong/Energy Exercise workshops, and, talks about Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, including seasonal health tips. The college will host an informational Open House presentation for prospective students from 3:30-5:30, prior to the celebration.
”This is a great chance for community members to experience acupuncture treatments in a friendly setting, and to learn more about how Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine works,” according to Gina Lepore, Licensed Acupuncturist and Chief Operating Officer of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine’s New York campus. “Acupuncture is one of the fastest growing areas of health care because it offers effective and cost effective alternative or complementary options to the usual treatments for a variety of conditions from anxiety to pain to women’s health conditions. As one of the largest training institutions in the U.S., with three campuses, and one of the busiest clinics on the East coast, the college is committed to educating the community as much as addressing their health concerns.”
Celebratory and educational events like the ones at Pacific College’s New York campus, will take place on October 24th at clinics, colleges, and Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine related organizations throughout the Nation marking the seventh annual observance of North American Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day, which was conceived by the National Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine ( NCCAOM ) as part of a national campaign to educate the public about the benefits of acupuncture and Asian healing, and is supported by many of the leading Acupuncture organizations.
In the United States, the use of acupuncture and Oriental medicine is at an all-time high. According to a recent study conducted by the National Institutes of Health's National Center for Complementary & Alternative Medicine ( NCCAM ), an estimated 6 out of 10 U.S. adults use some form of alternative therapy, 25 percent of hospitals offer complementary and alternative medicine, 64 percent of physicians have referred patients to certified practitioners of alternative therapies, including acupuncture and more than $17 billion is spent on the therapies annually.
