(PressZoom) - February 28, 2013-Houston-An investigation led by University of Houston police, in conjunction with the Houston Police Department and Houston Fire Department bomb squad technicians, concluded that a suspicious device discovered today in a wooded area on property owned by the University was a "hoax device."
"At no time was there an actual threat to persons or property," said UH Police Chief Ceaser Moore. "University of Houston Police investigators are attempting to determine who created and placed the hoax device."
Shortly before noon, a student looking for items to include in an art project discovered the suspicious object in a wooded area near the intersections of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Calhoun Road and Wheeler Avenue and reported it to police, Moore said.
Because the investigation is continuing, further details are not being released.
